Whitney Pegues Participates in NextGen Seminar

Tupelo, Mississippi, February, 06, 2014- Whitney Pegues was among the many young professionals attending Selected Independent Funeral Homes' NextGen Seminar in St. Maarten, January 26-30. Pegues is the fifth generation of Pegues at W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors located in Tupelo, Mississippi with a branch in Saltillo, Mississippi.

"This is a very dynamic group, and it is always a wonderful experience to get together with my peers for a few days," said Pegues. "This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to explore and discuss best practices as well as share ideas and challenges with each other.

NextGen Seminars are conducted annually by Selected Independent Funeral Homes to encourage networking among its young professionals and those new to funeral service. This year, Certified Professional Behavior Analyst and Human Capital Strategist, Brian Parsley shared valuable insight into building a strong staff team to best serve client families and communities. Participants also gained valuable insight from a panel of NextGen alumni who have progressed in their funeral service careers to prominent positions within their firms. A lively best practices exchanged session rounded out the meeting agenda. This sharing of best practices is a hallmark of Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors has been a member of Selected since 1956. The association was founded in 1917 and is the world's oldest and largest association in independently owned funeral homes. Its members represent the finest and most caring funeral professionals in North America and around the world. Selected Independent Funeral Homes actively promotes the use of best practices by its members in order to provide consumers with the finest care possible.

"One of the ways our members demonstrate commitment to providing quality funeral services is through adherence to the association's Code of Good Practice," said Robert J. Paterkiewicz, Executive Director of Selected Independent Funeral Homes. "They understand the enormous responsibility they have to the families and communities they serve. We are pleased that Whitney Pegues is following this long tradition by participating with her fellow NextGen funeral professionals."
