ZAKARY PAUL COATS
SALTILLO- Zakary Paul Coats, age 43, passed away on June 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, loving father, loyal son, and cherished friend, Zak leaves behind a legacy of deep love, lasting memories, and unwavering faith.
Zak was born on November 25, 1981, to Ricky Coats and Celia Lindley in Red Bay, Alabama. He was a proud outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, Alabama football (Roll Tide!), and spending time with his girls—whether riding side-by-sides, sitting in a deer stand, or simply soaking in nature together.
Zak shared 25 beautiful years with the love of his life, Katrina Coats. They met during college in Florence, Alabama, where their story began with a simple lunch date at Court Street Café. Zak famously told Katrina, “I’m gonna make you fall in love with me,” and he did. On June 3, 2006, they were married, and just one day before his passing, they celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love.
Zak was a proud and devoted father to Ava and Paisley Coats, who were the lights of his life. He poured his heart into raising them with strength, kindness, and joy.
Zak’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a lifelong believer who knew the love of God and the saving grace of Christ’s sacrifice. We take comfort in knowing that Zak is now reunited in Heaven with those he loved so dearly. He was a devoted member of Mayfield Church of Christ.
Zak was employed for 18 years by North Mississippi Medical Center, where he gave his all to his position in facility operations.
Zak’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina Coats of Saltillo, Mississippi; daughters Ava and Paisley Coats; father Ricky Coats (Myra) of Red Bay, Alabama; mother Celia Lindley of Red Bay, Alabama; brothers Chase Coats (April) and their children Asher and Autumn, and Josh Coats, all of Red Bay, Alabama. He is also survived by a loving extended family, including Aunt Sue Raper (Gary) of Vina, Alabama; Aunt Becki Nichols (Allen) of Red Bay, Alabama; and cousins Denieta Cantrell (Chris) of Vina, Alabama, Bruce Coats of Belmont, Alabama, Ashleigh Gilland (Joseph) of Hackleburg, Alabama, Beth Nichols of Birmingham, Alabama, and Erica Richie (Michael) of Birmingham, Alabama; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Zak was preceded in death by his grandparents Everlean and Vernon Coats, grandparents Beatrice and Rowe Lindley, and his aunt Joyce Cummings.
