Shannon--Wilodyne Schumpert Barnett passed away peacefully at her home in the Brewer Community on Friday, July 25, 2025. Wilodyne was a native and lifelong resident, born on January 13, 1939. She was the daughter of Clyde Robert Schumpert and Willard D’area Johnston Schumpert. Wilodyne was a graduate of Shannon High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Blue Mountain College. For over 20 years she was a dedicated high school teacher serving many of those years at Shannon High School.

She is survived by four children, Richard Barnett (Lisa) of Winona, Pam Golding (Tee) of Winona, Donald Barnett of Orlando, Florida, and Stephanie Barnett of Shannon; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Barnett who passed away in 2000; daughter-in-law, Lisa Barnett; and her great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Irving.

Visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025 at Pegues, Tupelo.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Brewer Cemetery with Rev. Blake Buchanan officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors is honored to assist with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to a church or favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
