Shelley H. Kelly
Shelley Hoyle Kelly passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 24, 2026, at the age of 85, in Plantersville, Mississippi. Born on July 23, 1940, Shelley dedicated his life to service, both as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and a member of the United States Army, where he served for 32 years.
After joining the Army Shelley completed his higher education at Brigham Young University, embarking on a distinguished 32-year military career. His commitment to healthcare extended beyond his military service, as he continued working as a CRNA until his retirement in Mississippi.
Shelley was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he nurtured his spiritual life and served his community. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, deeply influencing his personal and professional life.
Known for his skilled hands and creative eye, Shelley was passionate about woodworking. He spent many hours in his woodshop, crafting furniture and undertaking numerous projects often inspired by requests from his beloved wife and children.
Shelley was a loving husband to Lillian Kelly and a devoted father to Hope, SIL Rick Freeze, Paula (John Horsager), Steve, Shawn, Tabitha (Johnathan Ellzey), and the late Michelle Freeze. He was also a cherished brother to Guilene Berryman (JB Berryman). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Meakia, Amanda, Fallon, Heather, Hunter, Zachary, Shane, Kyle, Noah, Brooke, Hunter, Haven, Jacob, and Taylor, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Hoyle Kelly and Willie Vee Kelly (Peters), and his daughter Michelle Freeze.
Shelley's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his country, and his faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of a traditional service, the family has chosen to remember Shelley privately. Contributions in memory of Shelley can be made to a charity of one's choice, honoring his spirit of generosity and service.
