Tupelo – Robert Shane Smith, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at the age of 56, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Born on May 27, 1969, Shane was known for his generous spirit, unwavering work ethic, and devotion to his family and friends.
Shane found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman who cherished time spent on the water, casting lines and sharing stories. His love for 80s music filled his days with energy and nostalgia, and he was always eager to share his favorite tunes with those around him.
Shane also treasured every moment with his children, valuing laughter, guidance, and togetherness above all else. As the proud owner of S&S Painting, Shane built a business rooted in dedication and integrity, serving his community with pride.
Shane was deeply loved by his family, and his quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter to every gathering. He had a special way of making his children smile, and his playful spirit created lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all of us, as his warmth and presence touched everyone who knew him.

Shane’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children, Jordan (Tyler) Cayson, Payton (Summer) Smith, and Kalea (Will) Smith. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Kip Smith and Jackson Cayson. Shane’s siblings include Robert Butch Smith, Donna Jackson, Shelly (Tommy) Garrett, and JD (Andrea) Stanley.
He also leaves behind his loving parents, Joey and Linda Stanley.
Shane was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carroll Smith.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate the Life of Shane at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Tommy Garrett, Shane’s brother-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be JD Stanley, Chance Rowland, Jason Rowland, Johnathan Ford, Will Easterling, and Tyler Cayson.
Shane’s life was marked by warmth, generosity, and steadfast love for those around him. He touched many hearts and inspired those who knew him to live fully and cherish each day. Shane will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the entire community.
