In Loving Memory of Sara Frances Harris

Richmond Community – With hearts full of love and sorrow, we bid farewell to Sara Frances Harris, 90, who passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving daughter on October 22, 2025, in her home in the Richmond community near Tupelo. Sara lived a life radiant with kindness, grace, and an unwavering faith and devotion, both to her heavenly father and to her dear family. She was the definition of living a glass-half-full life with her positivity and generosity. Her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will shine brightly in our hearts forever.

Born on January 17, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Sara was the cherished youngest child of Leonard and Lillie Mae Irwin. Growing up with four other siblings, she brought joy, light, and laughter and her spirit was a gift to her family and community. Sara carried that positive attitude into every chapter of her life, sharing it generously with all who knew her.

Sara’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, and her favorite person was her late husband, Bud. Their love-at-first-sight relationship was incredibly special and something they both reminisced about often. The story told was that after a brief first meeting one evening at a local dairy bar, Bud went home and told his mother, “I just met the girl I’m going to marry…and she has red hair.” Our greatest memory will always be how deeply Bud and Sara were in love for all 43 years of their marriage. That legacy of love promises to continue through generations to come. Sara was also an avid reader and studier and did the accounting and finances for the farm business for many years and later worked at the local water association, doing similar work there. Through word and deed, she instilled her children with faith, confidence, and knowledge. Whether she was cooking breakfast and flipping biscuits in her special pans, singing in the church choir, tending her beautiful garden, teaching Sunday school, or just conversing, Sara had a way of making everyone feel seen and loved. Her deep faith, quiet strength, infectious joy, and constant positivity, was a beacon to her family and friends, and her love for God and family filled her days with purpose and happiness. She had a unique way of always finding the gold in every person's heart.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Glen Harris (Jen), Gail Harris, and Bob Harris (Myriam); adored grandchildren, Connor Harris, Marlee Harris, and Madelyn Harris; dear brother, Billy Irwin, who will carry her love and lessons in their hearts always.

She was predeceased by her husband, Glen “Bud” Harris, Jr.; parents, Leonard and Lillie Mae Irwin; brothers, Robert Irwin and Herman Irwin; and sister, Ann Barnes. We take comfort knowing she is reunited with them in peace.

We would also like to recognize and give special thanks to our sister, Gail, for living with our mother her last few years and providing constant care and company, thus fulfilling our mother’s wish to live in her own home until she passed.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Our Mother loved flowers, and all are welcome to share in that way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SAFE, Inc., safeshelter.net, a local charity that supports a cause that reflects Sara’s love and caring spirit.

Sara Frances Harris, our beloved Mom, your love was our home, and your positive light will guide us always. Rest in eternal peace with your soul-mate Bud, wrapped in the love of God and in the love you gave so generously.
