Sandra Ann “Sandy” Marlar, 83, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born June 26, 1943, in Arkansas to Floyd and Gladys Marlar.

Sandy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Women’s College, beginning with what would become a remarkable 50-year career devoted to caring for others. She spent her career at North Mississippi Medical Center, where her compassion, dedication, and leadership touched countless lives. After five decades of service, she retired as Nurse Manager of the Women’s Center.

Faith remained a constant throughout Sandy’s life. During her many years in Tupelo, she was a faithful member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. Her faith was not only something she cherished, but something she put into action, including traveling on three mission trips to Honduras to serve others. While living in Linkton, North Carolina, she was a member of First Baptist Church. Wherever life took her, Sandy carried her faith with her and allowed it to guide the way she lived and cared for others.

Sandy had a special place in her heart for dogs, especially her beloved Millie, who brought her tremendous joy and companionship. She also loved spending time outdoors working in her yard, carefully tending to it and taking great pride in making it beautiful.

At heart, Sandy was a giver. She delighted in entertaining and opening her home to others, always making certain those around her felt welcomed and cared for. Whether through her nursing career, her hospitality, or the simple kindnesses she extended to family and friends, caring for others was woven throughout Sandy’s life.

Sandy is survived by her best friend and caregiver, Julie Carruth of Belden; beloved dog, Millie Marlar; niece, Sheryll Warner (Mike) of Lebanon, Tennessee; nephew, Joe Free of Saint Augustine, Florida; great-niece, Rachel Trisler (Josh); great-nephew, Michael Warner; great-great-nieces, Emma and Lucy Trisler; dear friend, Irma Satterwhite and many more friends she cherished.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Gladys Marlar; and sister, Carolyn Free.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

A funeral service honoring Sandy’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Gary Gray officiating. Graveside services will follow at Harmony Hill Cemetery in Burnsville.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Carruth, Tommy Vickers, CB Wright, and Bob Wright.
