Mooreville – Samuel Andrew Barkheimer, 66, a recent resident of Mooreville, passed away on October 13, 2026. Sam was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 28, 1960, to Maggie Mae and Charles “Sunny” Barkheimer.
During his childhood, Sam enjoyed playing basketball, football, and baseball, as well as fishing, hunting, and camping with his brothers. He also loved to draw and won several art competitions in his youth.
Sam joined the Army with the Signal Corps in 1979. Once out, he began working in the business sector in the Dallas, Texas, area for 30 years.
He also coached his daughter Alicia’s basketball team when she was younger, where he coached those kids like a drill sergeant. He was also his daughter Alex’s biggest fan, no matter what hobby she picked up, including band.
He attended and served at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for over a decade. He was also a part of the Knights of Columbus and Post 145 of the American Legion.
Later on in his life, he loved taking his grandchildren to museums and other such places. He loved cigars and watching for birds outside. He loved old movies and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and OU fan. He loved going on nature trails with his grandson and going to concerts with his granddaughter.
He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Tania Wells of Mooreville; one daughter, Alicia Jane, of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Alyssa Grace and Aiden James; two brothers, Charles Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Walter Francis of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and three nieces and a nephew.
Sam was preceded in death by both parents, a daughter, Alexandra Claire, and a granddaughter, Holly Marie.
