RUBY BETTS PATTERSON



Tupelo - Ruby Laine Patterson, 82, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Diversicare. She was born September 23, 1934, to Roy Wuster and Carrie Lewis Betts. Ruby grew up on the family farm picking cotton. Her family lived off the land and did not eat anything they did not grow. In her early life, she lived in Rochester, New York and worked at Strongburg and Carlson Factory. After moving back to Tupelo, Ruby married Larry Patterson in 1979. Known as a hard worker, she worked in multiple factories during her working life including: McGraw and Eddison, Hunter-Sadler and Air Cap. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church where she played the pump organ and sang until it was replaced by the piano, and she played it as well. Ruby thoroughly enjoyed anything outdoors such as working in the yard, taking walks and keeping up her beautiful flower garden. She loved music and singing blue grass and enjoyed her puzzle books.



Survivors include husband, Larry Patterson; children, Brenda Baine (Gary) of Tupelo, Lisa Hall of Tupelo and Joe Hall of Burnsville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Herman Betts (Brenda) of Pontotoc, Charlie "Jack" Betts of Saltillo and Chaplain Jesse Betts (Martha) of Amory and numerous nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Betts.



Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.



Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Chaplain Jesse Betts officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.



Pallbearers will be Tommy, Larry, Matthew, Steve, Glenn and Charles Betts.
