Peggy Brooks

Tupelo- Peggy Brooks entered the arms of her Savior after a long illness. Surrounded by family at The Sanctuary Hospice House, she passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 82 in Tupelo, Mississippi - the same town where her beautiful life began. Peggy was born on April 6, 1943, to Clyde and Willie Lou Cook.

Peggy was the heart of her family and a light to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a gentle spirit, a beautiful smile, and a warmth that instantly made people feel welcome. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, Peggy had a gift for making others feel at home and cared for.

She graduated from Tupelo High School in 1961, where she was loved by her classmates and active in many school activities. Peggy was honored as Miss THS and was named Most Beautiful on two separate occasions—recognitions that reflected not only her outward beauty but the kindness and grace she carried with her throughout her life.

Early in life, Peggy devoted herself to raising her daughters and creating a home filled with love, encouragement, and faith. She was a constant presence in their lives, supporting their school and church activities and always cheering them on. Her love and guidance helped shape the family that remained the center of her world.

As her daughters grew older, Peggy began a career in real estate, where her natural ability to connect with people helped her thrive. She became a highly successful agent, earning Top Producing Agent honors multiple times and receiving numerous sales awards throughout her career. Her dedication, integrity, and warm personality made her both respected and admired in her profession.

Peggy also had a heart for serving others. She volunteered faithfully with Women’s First Breast Care and the Sanctuary Village Shoppe, always looking for ways to offer kindness and support to those around her.

Faith was the foundation of Peggy’s life. Over the years she was a devoted member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, St. Luke Methodist Church, and most recently Wesley Methodist Church. She loved studying the Bible, gathering with friends for fellowship, and living out her faith through compassion and generosity.

More than anything in this world, Peggy treasured her family. Being “Mimi” brought her immeasurable joy and was one of her greatest blessings. She rarely missed a game, performance, or school event and was always the proudest supporter in the stands. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she celebrated every moment she could spend with them.

Peggy loved traveling, especially trips to the beach, and she cherished the time spent making memories with family and friends. She also enjoyed gathering with friends for bunco and Bible study, moments filled with laughter, fellowship, and deep friendship. Peggy was a devoted fan of Mississippi State football and basketball, a passion she shared with her late husband.

Though Peggy will be deeply missed, the love she shared so freely will continue to live on through the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and faith.

Her family will forever remember her for the love she gave, the faith she lived by, and the countless memories she created as a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, and cherished Mimi.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Lori Raines (Roger) and Leanne London; her grandchildren, Keely Trimble (Bart), Madison Cox (Ty), Hunter Raines (Sophie), and Kortney Ratzlaff (Bartlett); and her great-grandchildren, Cal and Bonnie Trimble, Gentry Raines, and Parker Ratzlaff, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Stephanie Baughn (Bob); a special cousin, Pat Langston (Bill); and a lifelong friend of 75 years, Shirley Langley (Dan). She is also survived by Larry London (Theresa), the father of her two daughters.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Tommy Brooks; her parents, Clyde Cook and Willie Lou York (Harry); and her grandparents, Will and Moman Partlow and Flavis and Lucy Cook.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Brooks will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Trae Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Raines, Bart Trimble, Bartlett Ratzlaff, Ty Cox, Phil Trammel, and Keith Parham.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Sanctuary Hospice, honoring Peggy’s lifelong spirit of compassion and giving.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers in the Memory Care Unit at Landmark, as well as the dedicated staff at Sanctuary Hospice House, for the exceptional care, kindness, and diligence they provided. Their patience, professionalism, and genuine concern brought comfort not only to our loved one, but to our entire family during a difficult time.
