Owen Lamar GillentinePlantersville- Owen Lamar Gillentine 67, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born January 31, 1949, in Lee County to Rev. Hubert H.R. Gillentine and Clytee Lamb Gillentine. Owen was a faithful member of Palestine Baptist Church who loved to go and sing. He was a humble man who never met a stranger.He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Gillentine (Judy); two sisters, Patricia Young (Curtis), Helen Gable; four nieces, Odean Young, Pam Irvin (Steve), Debbie Lindsey, Betty May Presley (Randy); five nephews, Albert Young (Anita), Michael Gillentine (Tammy), Glen Martin (Addy), Gerald Martin (Flow), Gary Martin (Vick). He is preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services honoring his life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Mark Hoover and Rev. Jamie Gillentine officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Chapel Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Michael Gillentine, Larry and Randy Presley, Albert Young, Larry Carpenter and Larry Stacy.Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Loden, Joey Presley and J.B.
