Tupelo- Murl Edwin Ford, 89, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, at The Manor in Tupelo. Murl was born October 14, 1935, in Tremont to Edward and Lila Bell Ford.
Murl proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1975 after a distinguished career that included service during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he enjoyed spending his time outdoors, especially working in his yard.
He is survived by his two sisters, Willie Earl Moore of Nashville, Tennessee, and Donna Jean Roberts (Ronald) of Fulton; his daughter, Michelle Wascomb of Tupelo; his daughter-in-law, Lisa Ford of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Mallory Ford Smith (Caleb) of Clayton, Georgia, Morgan Ford Nance (Josh) of Waverly Hall, Georgia, and Hannah R. Wascomb of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and six great-grandchildren, Parker, Keeley Marie, and Jase Smith, and Knox, Nola, and Nate Nance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lila Bell Ford; his son, Ron Ford; and brother-in-law, Harold Moore.
Private graveside services will be held at Tupelo Memorial Park. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Josh Nance, Craig Corbett, Keith Moore, Ronald Roberts, and Knox Nance.
