Ms. Maurice Swinney Gibson

Maurice Swinney Gibson of Starkville passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. Maurice was graduate of Tupelo High School and went on to study at Mississippi State University, where she received her Masters Degree. Ms. Gibson went on to teach for 37 years at various Mississippi school districts, ending her career with the Starkville School District. She was an avid MSU baseball fan and loved to read in her spare time.
She is preceded in death by father and mother, Maynard and Annie Swinney, and sister, Ann Breland.
She is survived by son Clyde “Chip” Gibson, his wife Amanda and granddaughter Samantha; her sister, Helen Wilburn; nieces Heather and Jenny; and nephews Timothy and Chuck.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo. Services honoring Maurice’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Jefferson Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
