Mary Dill Smith
Mantachie- Mary Dill Smith, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. She was born on December 18, 1936, to Icelee Knox Dill and Coy Dill.
Mary will be remembered as a loving and nurturing woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. She had a generous heart and an open door: no one ever left her home hungry. Mary’s cooking was legendary among her family and friends, and her kitchen was the center of countless memories filled with laughter, love, and good food.
She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and magnificent garden, which reflected the care and patience she poured into everything she did. A talented pianist, Mary also shared her gift of music within her community and her church. She was a faithful member of Boguefala Baptist Church, where her gentle spirit and servant’s heart were a blessing to many.
Above all, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Virgil Smith, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Her legacy of warmth, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Paden and Kathie Haskett and her husband, Wayne; grandchildren, John David Harbin, Kristen Nicole Paden and her fiancé, Blaine, and Heather Haskett; great-grandchildren, Lillian Jade Wilson, Taylor Michelle Harbin, and Kylie Anne Harbin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Smith; parents; grandchild, Michael Jason Brown; great-grandchildren, John Reed Harbin and Josiah John Michael Petry; brothers, Roosevelt Bill Charlie Dill and Coy Dill, Jr.; sisters, Sarah Dill White, Ruby Dill Posey, and Betty Dill.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Bro. Blake Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenbrier Cemetery in Amory.
Honorary pallbearers will be John David Harbin and Travis Luker.
