Martha May
Saltillo – Martha May, 77, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Born on November 14, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Waldo Baxter Davis, Sr. and Mary Inez Dallas Davis. In her younger years, Martha was an avid bowler and enjoyed being part of a local league. She was known for her warm, sweet spirit and her ever-present smile, which had a way of lifting the hearts of those around her and bringing joy to others.
Martha had a deep love for Southern Gospel music and cherished attending performances by her favorite groups. In her later years, she treasured traveling with her husband and family, especially to the western U.S., with El Paso, Texas, being her favorite destination.
With a heart full of compassion and a genuine desire to help others, Martha co-founded Martha and Martha’s Cleaning Service, where her caring nature shone through in her work. Above all, she will be fondly remembered by her loved ones as “Nana,” a title that symbolized the love and warmth she shared with those closest to her.
She is survived by her two sons, Gregory Dow May of Saltillo, and Nicky Alan May of Caledonia; one granddaughter, Alice Elizabeth May of Saltillo; one grandson, John Michael Parker of Nashville, Tennessee; one sister, Linda Frye; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Martin May; her parents; four siblings, John Davis, Don Davis, Hardee Davis, and Lila Duffy; and a daughter-in-law, Ann May.
