Marshall
Sage
July 22, 1962 — June 21, 2026
Pegues Funeral Directors - Saltillo
5:00 - 7:00 pm (Central time)
Saltillo – Marshall Sage, age 63, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on Sunday, June 21, 2026. As his wife, Rhonda, sang “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus,” he was ushered into the reward of his salvation and into the presence of the Savior he had loved and served. What was faith became sight as he saw Jesus face to face.
Marshall was born on July 22, 1962, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Marshall and Arliss Sage. During his childhood, his family moved to Fulton, Mississippi, where he enjoyed countless adventures with his siblings and neighborhood friends. The stories they shared and Marshall’s ability to tell them could keep anyone in stitches. He was a gifted storyteller whose humor and vivid analogies brought joy and wisdom to everyone around him.
After serving two years in the United States Army, Marshall returned home, continuing his service in the United States National Guard while attending Mississippi State University. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Rhonda, and the two were married in 1992.
Although Marshall and Rhonda had no children of their own, they opened their home and invested deeply in the lives of many young people over the years. Marshall faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church Saltillo for more than twenty years. He possessed a deep knowledge of Scripture and had a unique ability to make biblical truths come alive through stories, humor, and unforgettable illustrations.
Marshall worked as a residential contractor for twenty-five years before being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. After retiring, he devoted himself to the things he loved most: reading, trout fishing, talking about trout fishing, and caring for his beloved pets.
Marshall will be remembered for his faith, his quick wit, his gift for storytelling, and his deep love for family, friends, and the countless lives he touched. Though he will be greatly missed, those who knew him rejoice in the hope of the gospel and the promise of reunion in Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rhonda Sage; two sisters, Sharon Sage and Dondra Sage Ragsdale; one niece; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall C. Sage and Arliss Sage; and one sister, Robin Cleveland.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Saltillo Building Fund at 311 Mobile Street, Saltillo, MS 38866.
