Tupelo - Margaret Ann Baker, 88, departed from this life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center, in the Hospice unit. She was born on Thursday, June 10, 1937, to the late Alfred Wren and Willie Gaither Wren.

Margaret will be remembered for her steadfast faith, loving heart, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. As a devoted Christian, she trusted in the Lord throughout her life and found strength, comfort, and purpose in her faith. Margaret shared a remarkable marriage of 64 years with her beloved husband, James Merle Baker, Sr. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, and reading, finding joy in life's simple pleasures. She admired the peaceful beauty of Thomas Kinkade's artwork and delighted in watching hummingbirds visit her yard. Margaret's greatest treasures were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Her home was a welcoming place where family and friends often enjoyed the fresh pecans and blueberries she lovingly grew. Above all, Margaret was known for her gentle spirit, genuine kindness, and loving soul. Her legacy of faith, love, and grace will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Margaret is survived by her two children, Martha Sewell (Robert) and James Baker (Jayme); four grandchildren, Ryan Sewell (Amanda), Valarie Morgan (Matthew), Tony Baker (Abbie), and Alexandra Baker; ten great-grandchildren, Reid Sewell, Ean Sewell, Levi Morgan, Isabella Morgan, Jeremiah Morgan, Noah Morgan, Isaiah Morgan, Emmie Lou Baker, Eden Baker, and Lanie Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Merle Baker, Sr.; her parents, Alford Wren and Willie Gaither Wren; two brothers, Andrew Wren and Elmo Wren; and two sisters, Mary Rush and Jewel Lanphere.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

A celebration of life honoring Mrs. Margaret Baker will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Donny Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Keyes Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby McKissick, Buddy McKissick, Lindsey Lanphere, Paul Lanphere, Rusty Lanphere, Butch Wren, David Baker, Joel Baker, Barry Baker, Rob Putt, Leonard Wooldridge, Ben Rollins, and Butch Campbell.

The family of Margaret would also like to recognize her friends and neighbors who have done so much for her and her family. They would especially like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and nursing staff of the Hospice Department at North Mississippi Medical Center for their compassionate care and attention during Margaret's final days.
