Listen to Obituary

Saltillo - Lee Alvis Turner, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Born on March 15, 1943, Lee lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and the simple pleasures of country living. He made his career as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dependable nature.

Lee was a true outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. He also loved watching professional wrestling, listening to the music of Hank Williams Jr., and spending evenings enjoying classic westerns. His favorite was Gunsmoke, a show that suited his appreciation for old-fashioned values and storytelling.

Above all else, Lee treasured his family. He shared a close bond with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. Time spent with those he loved was what mattered most to him, and the memories they created together will remain a lasting source of comfort.

To those who knew him best, Lee was simply a good ole country boy, kind-hearted, genuine, and happiest surrounded by family and the things he loved. His life was one of honesty, hard work, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lee is survived by his daughters, Pam Robbins and Carole Turner; one sister, Jeanette Beaty (Rickey); his grandchildren, Ashley Howell (Cody), Nathan Foster (Stormie), Treyvon Foster (Tiffini), Autumn Turner, Wesley Turner, Alyssa Garmon, Austin Turner, and Braden Turner; his great-grandchildren, Dawson Turner, Emma Boykin, Odin Foster, Gunner Foster, Bo Westmoreland, Everleigh Howell, and Paxton Howell, along with one precious great-grandchild soon to be welcomed into the world. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Vertis Turner and Annie Hoyt Windham Turner; two brothers, Joe "J.A." Turner and James "Shorty" Turner; three sisters, two of whom died in infancy, Mary Turner, Baby Turner, and Annie "Joan" Holmes; one son, David Turner; two grandchildren, Jennifer Turner and Jonathan Turner; and the love of his life, Carolyn Pannell. He may not have heard what you said, but he could always hear what she said, even if she whispered it. (If you know, then you understand this). Even death couldn’t keep him apart from her.
