Lamoise Kingsley Young
Tupelo – Lamoise Kingsley Young, age 98, passed away at the Franks House of the Traceway Retirement Community on July 19, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1926, in the Auburn Community of Lee County, Mississippi, to the late Guy and Jewel Kingsley. She was the oldest of five children.
She has been a resident of Tupelo for many years. She is a 1945 graduate of Mooreville High School. While at Mooreville, she met her high school sweetheart, Horace Young. They later married in 1947.
Her working career began at Central Service Association, Tupelo. Through her husband’s career with Blue Bell, Inc., they lived in Ripley, Mississippi; Renfrew, Ontario, Canada; Wilson, North Carolina; Amory, Mississippi; Nashville, Tennessee; and finally returned back home to Tupelo in 1980. She retired after 10 and a half years working as secretary, receptionist, and assistant to Dr. Rickey Bullard. After retiring in 1993, she continued to fill in as needed until age 90.
She enjoyed traveling, working word find puzzles, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest member at West Main Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty Herring and husband, Sam, of Tupelo, MS; three grandchildren, Edyee Kerley Pinson and husband, Chad, of Huntingdon, TN, Chad Kerley and wife, Shauna, of Paducah, KY, and John David Herring and wife, Brandy, of Belden, MS; four great-grandchildren, Conner Pinson and fiancé, Mimi, of Falls Church, VA, Clay Pinson and wife, Leigh, of Huntingdon, TN, Sydney Kerley and fiancé, Clay T, of Paducah, KY, and Bo Herring of Belden, MS; one great-great grandchild, Darcy Carol Pinson of Huntingdon, TN; one sister, Beckie Kingsley Adams of Saltillo, MS; one brother, Curtis Kingsley and wife, Shirley, of Ellijay, GA; one son-in-law, J.V. Kerley and wife, Brenda, of Paducah, KY; one sister-in-law, Liz Kingsley of Booneville, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Horace Young; infant daughter, Jenny Elizabeth Young, and daughter, Peggy Young Kerley in 2006; one sister, Louise Kingsley Tally and her husband, Bud Tally; one brother, Joe Raymond Kingsley; one brother-in-law, Charles Adams; nephew, Mark Kingsley; and two nieces, Cindy Kingsley Bledsoe, and Jennifer Tally Tharp.
Visitation will be 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring the life of Lamoise will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Bro. Doug Greenway, Mr. Chad Kerley, and Mr. John David Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Jeff Tally, Chuck Adams, Kevin Adams, Anson Adams, Dale Kingsley, and Barry Kingsley.
The family wants to especially remember the love and friendship of the “Golden Girls” who have predeceased her, Glenda Malone, Peggy Ramsey, Bobbie Roden, Jane Kellum, Evelyn McEwen, Betty Barber, and Mary Master Smith. They had many good times on Friday nights eating out, and playing cards and dominoes.
The family of Lamoise wants to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice nurses and certified nursing assistants for their loving care and support over the past year.
Memorials may be made to the West Main Church of Christ, Tupelo, MS, the American Heart Association, or the Traceway Retirement Community.
