Kay Francis Brown
Saltillo – Kay "KK" Francis Brown, lovingly known to many as KK, age 88, passed away at Traceway Manor on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born on April 8, 1937, to the late Jessie Lee and Alloys Whitaker.
KK was a woman of deep faith and a lifetime member of Tupelo Freewill Baptist Church. In recent years, she found fellowship and community at First Baptist Church of Saltillo, where her faith continued to be a guiding presence in her life.
In 1959, she met the love of her life, Gene Brown, and they later married on January 23, 1960. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, partnership, and commitment, lasting 28 wonderful years until his passing.
KK had a creative spirit and was especially known for her pottery, crafting beautiful and meaningful pieces that reflected her artistic heart. She also enjoyed coloring and spent many quiet hours with a book in hand—reading was one of her favorite pastimes.
She was a lifelong Major League Baseball enthusiast, and a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs. Whether watching games or proudly sporting Cubs gear, she cheered them on with unmatched loyalty and passion.
KK will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, the memories she made, and the faith she so deeply lived.
She is survived by her children, Danny Brown and wife, Karma, Jason Brown, and Amy Webb and husband, James; three grandchildren, Meredith Grisham and husband, Chris, Cooper Brown and fiancé, Brooke, and Benjamin Webb; two great-grandchildren, Preslee Brown and Wren Grisham; one sister, Fay Carrol Reid and husband, Wallace; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring the life of KK will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Boudreaux and Bro. Frank Whitaker officiating. Private burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
