Tremont-- Joyce Lenore Windham, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Born on November 26, 1941, in Tremont, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Underwood Harrell and Beulah Grady Harrell.
Joyce was a proud alumna of the University of Southern Mississippi, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Joyce’s pursuit of knowledge and insatiable curiosity was a lifelong endeavor. She could often be found reading a book or challenging herself with crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She began her professional journey as a high school teacher in Fulton, where she imparted knowledge and wisdom to countless students. Later in her career, she transitioned to the financial sector, working as a dedicated payroll clerk for a bank.
Joyce was a member of the Gloster Street Church of Christ. where she found community and spiritual fulfillment within her congregation. Her faith guided her through life and inspired those around her.
Beyond her professional and spiritual pursuits, Joyce found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and enthusiastically supporting women’s basketball.
Joyce leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Robert Windham of Belden; three children, Melanie Tutor (Nathan), Marty Windham, and Mark Windham; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan Harrell of Marietta, Georgia, and Rebecca Evans of Grand Saline, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services honoring Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.
