JOSIE MARIE CARR

Tupelo – Josie Marie Carr, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House.

Born on August 26, 1945, to Ruby and Carlton Ford, Josie lived a life marked by compassion, warmth, and quiet strength. She was the kind of person who made others feel at ease—genuine, gracious, and always ready with a smile or a kind word.

Josie was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Joseph Patrick Carr. Their nearly six decades together were a testament to enduring love and partnership, built on mutual respect and deep affection.

She was a member of Saltillo Methodist Church and held a deep appreciation for faith, tradition, and community. Josie also had a vibrant spirit—most evident in her lifelong love for Elvis Presley. As a VIP member of the Elvis Fan Club, she delighted in the music, memories, and joy that came with celebrating his legacy. She worked at North Mississippi Medical Center 30 years until her retirement.

An avid lover of flowers, Josie took great pleasure in their beauty, often surrounding herself with their color and fragrance. Her love of nature reflected her gentle soul and ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures.

What mattered most to Josie, above all else, was her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—creating a legacy of love that will live on in their hearts. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being present, Josie made every moment meaningful.

She will be remembered as a remarkably kind and loving woman—one whose life touched many and whose memory will be treasured always.

She is survived by her sons, Brian Carr and wife, Amanda, and Shane Carr and wife, Veronica; grandchildren, Brittany Carr, Bryn Brazile, Ethan Brazile and wife, Alex, Dennis Carr and wife, Kaitlyn, Hannah Christian and husband, Jacob, Andrew Carr, Jackson Mabus, Chloe Mabus, Emily Mabus, Rylee Palmer; two great-grandchildren, Vivian Christian and Arthur Brazile; niece, Marie Smith; and special friends, Rebecca Sue White, Jackie Griffus, Betty Akin, Jo Johnson, and Donnie Gooddard.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Charlotte Wood; brother, Carry Ford; and nephew, Bob Holloway.
