Shannon

Shannon- John Charles Walser, 73, gained his Heavenly Wings on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at The Meadows of Fulton, with his wife by his side. He was born on February 17, 1951, in Madison, Wisconsin to the late Verlyn and Betty Pelzer Walser.   John, a devout Christian, arrived in Mississippi in the mid-70’s on a missionary journey. His love for the people of Shannon  and his God led mission allowed him to make Mississippi his home for well over 50 plus years.

John was a faithful member of the adult Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church of Shannon. Prior to his declining health, John was also a strong supportive member of the Brotherhood Ministry and other ministries /services at the Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Shannon. John truly loved God and would spend countless hours in conversation discussing scriptures and their meanings with others. Most of all, he was a proud Christian.

John was a renowned appliance man and could fix anything electrical. He received his electrical certification many years ago from IJC and worked in his passion for many successful years. John was well-versed in many subject areas, enjoyed reading, and was a true conversationalist. He was also an avid fisherman who enjoyed connecting with nature and observing things that he felt that he could make better. John loved the game of football and enjoyed hosting his annual Super Bowl gathering alongside his wife, Emmie. John was well known in the community as a kindhearted person and one who helped others the way the Bible instructed.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Emmie L. Harris-Walser, of Shannon; step-sons, Cagney Foster (Latasha) of Verona; Marshad Foster (Kearsee) of Shannon; two granddaughters, Adison Foster and Mahalee Foster; siblings, Steven Walser of Wisconsin; and Mary Lavrenz of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Evon Huddleston (Fred) of Shannon, Barbara Hartl of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Paula Walser of Fond du Lac of Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Bobby Harris of Verona; mother-in-love, Elizabeth Harris of Verona; longtime friends, Jimmy Bowers, Ted Holt, Jerry Shelton, A.B.
