James “Bud” Moore
Houlka--James Watson “Bud” Moore passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was 92 years old. Born December 13, 1930 in Webster County, he was the son of Floyd and Nellie Watson Moore. Bud served proudly in the United States Navy for six years. After his discharge, he then began farming and driving a truck. He was a longtime resident of Tupelo before moving to Houlka to be near his children. Bud was married to Jackie Moore and they enjoyed 67 years together before her passing in February of 2022. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Houston. Bud enjoyed a friendly game of dominoes as well as Rook, and Kings Court. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Bud leaves behind two sons, James R. Moore (Katie) and Christopher Moore, all of Houlka; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nellie Moore; a daughter, Rebecca Willitt; a son, John Moore; and a brother, Rob Moore.
Visitation will be 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo. A service celebrating his life will be 2p.m. Tuesday with Bro. Patrick Collins and Bro. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka.
