Tupelo- Jacqueline Westmoreland Couch, 91, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in the Richmond Community on January 4, 1932; she was the only daughter of Alwyn Farrar “A.F.” and Mannie Lou Leslie Westmoreland. Following graduation from Tupelo High School, she married James “Jim” Edward Couch on June 4, 1950.

In her early years, she worked with The Day-Brite Company but the majority of her professional career was with Cook Coggin Engineers, where she retired after 35 years of service.

In the early 1940s, Jackie joined First Baptist Church in Tupelo. Throughout her many years, she held various roles at the church including being a Sunday school teacher, training union director, multiple Ladies' organizations, and a choir member. Jackie was an energetic member of the community and her church. She was also an active member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary.

Jackie enjoyed hiking trips with her ladies' group the “gold bugs.” She would travel near and far including, Nova Scotia, Portugal, Azores, Cumberland Island, Mackinaw Isle, and many other notable locations. She would never miss any opportunity to visit with friends or read a good book.

She leaves behind her husband, Jim Couch; granddaughter, Aley Reece and her husband, Hal of Oxford; two great-grandchildren, Chuck and Elizabeth Reece; one special cousin, Elna Barber of Tupelo; one special niece, Ruth Brunner; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, James E. Couch, Jr.
Graveside services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Tupelo Memorial Park with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. The family will visit with friends following the graveside service.
