Harry “Buddy” Walker Moore

Kosciusko, MS – January 7, 1928, to August 2, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry Walker Moore, who departed this world on August 2, 2023, to be with his loving wife, Billie Fae. He was born on January 7, 1928, in Tupelo, MS to Harry Walker Moore, Sr. and Lucille Potter Moore. He lived a remarkable life of 95 years, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by all who knew him. Harry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle. He touched the lives of so many with his kindness, compassion, and warmth.

After a brief stint at the University of Alabama, Harry answered the call to service and joined the United States Navy. Harry served aboard both the USS Yorktown (CV-10) and the USS Antietam (CV-36) as an aviation storekeeper. Harry obtained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (E5) before the end of his enlistment.

A true testament to his character was his profound sense of humor, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. One cherished memory that will forever remain in our hearts is how it never mattered who you were, whether you were family, friend, human, or animal, he probably had a nickname for you. His great-nephew, Harry Randolph, recollected a memory of a cat he had originally named Scarlet; Harry, a great lover of all animals, referred to Scarlet as “‘at Cat” (That Cat). Every cat he ever met was named ‘at Cat. However, this particular ‘at Cat was bestowed upon it the great honor of getting a special nickname. ‘At Cat went on to be known as Alpha Charlie, then later simply as AC.

In his free time, Harry enjoyed photography and anything involving electronics, but most notably computers, HAM Radio, and flight simulators, finding solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for showing up to any function with a film camera around his neck and conversation aplenty.

Harry leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us through life's journey. He is survived by his children, Richard Douglas Moore, Scott “Juan” Everett Moore, David “Boog” Wesley (Lauren) Moore, Mark “Ftinky” Andrew (Claudia) Moore, and Joel (Lisa) Kelly, grandchildren, Grant “Wormy” Walker Moore, Elle Moore, Lillian “Wormy” Claire Moore, Alexander “Wormy” Walker Moore, and Christian “Alfons” Frederick Moore, Nieces, Susan “Chispa” Jane (Robert “Smoke”) Puckett, and Ricki “Treuse” Allyn (Jesse “Levy”) Garrett, great-nephews, Robert “RP” Patrick (Marci) Puckett, Harry “Harold” Randolph (Jennifer) Puckett, Walker (Yvonne) Garrett, and Oliver “Hollywood” (Valerie) Garrett, as well as a vast network of friends and well-wishers.

A graveside service to honor Harry will be 12 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Glenwood Cemetery in Tupelo, Mississippi. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
