Tupelo - Harold Edward Hill, 88, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the presence of his family. He was born in Crenshaw, Mississippi, on October 10, 1937, to Raymond Cecil Hill and Dorothy Mae (Doster) Hill.
He proudly served in the United States Army stationed in France and Greenland from 1955 to 1958, and was honorably discharged. After serving his country, he worked on constructing Interstate 55 as part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways project. During the next 40 years, he was employed as a route and over the road truck driver by Avents’ Dairy in Oxford, MidSouth Packers in Tupelo, and Flying H Transport in Tupelo. He retired with his trusted travel companion, Watson, “the long-haul dachshund”, in 1995. He spent the last 8 years of life residing with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in Pickwick, Tennessee.
While living in Pickwick, he enjoyed walking at Pickwick State Park, exercising at 57 Fitness, watching the wildlife in his community, eating at local restaurants, especially at the Botel, reading his Bible, attending school functions for his grandchildren, doing word searches, watching sports, and spending time with his dog, Nola Jane.
He is preceded in death by his spouse, Carolyn Sue (Faust) of Sledge, Mississippi; his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Hill; brother, Raymond Cecil Hill, Jr.; sister, Alma Jean Bramlett; daughter, Regina Lou Monts.
He is survived by his brother, Billy Don Hill (Judy Wiles); sisters, Amelia Cecil (Glen Olita), and Judy Kay (Steve Herques); children, Renee Sue Clark, Christopher Edward Hill (Bethany Szymusiak Hill), and Emily Nicole Hill; grandchildren, Stephen Cobb, Christopher Cobb, Rachel Allyson Cobb, Kelsey (Hill) Hodecker, Kelton Hill, and Kylen Hill; and great-grandchildren, Josephine Cobb, Cathryn Cobb, Isabella Cobb, Noah Cobb, Theo Cobb, Jaxon Clark, and Tovia “Catfish” Hodecker.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Corinth National Cemetery with his beloved Pastor Mike Drewery, at First Baptist Church Tupelo, officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors have been entrusted with care of his arrangements.
