Tupelo - Gerald A. Tackett, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born April 11, 1936, to the late Norman Elmo and Alma Etoile Ray Tackett. He was a member of the New Life Church. He was Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He retired from Mutual Savings Insurance and was a farmer. He enjoyed antique tractors and was a member of Dixie Iron Tractor Club.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Anthony Hatch officiating. Burial will be in the Priceville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of two years, Linda Goodman Tackett; one daughter, Debbie Burt and husband, Kelly, of Ballardsville; one son, Gerald Wayne Tackett and wife, Shellie, of Mooreville; two stepdaughters, Donna Crawford and husband, Tony, of Moore, S.C., and Tammy Reagan and husband, Gator, of Speedwell, Tenn.; two stepsons, Tim and Bobby Goodman of Middlesboro, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Denise, Nicole, Kayla, Krista, Gerald Allen II, Jessica, Tyler, Shannon, Samuel and Timmy; five great-grandchildren, Deidra, Devin, Kaylee, Victoria, Katrina and Trinity; one brother, Donald Tackett and wife, Hisako, of Okinawa, Japan; his special friends, Harold and Carolyn Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jean Gallup.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Arnold, Johnny Martin, David Jones, Chris Ellis, Charles Simmons and Blaine Webb. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Hill.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the New Life Church.
