Gerald Mallory

Shannon - Gerald Mallory, 62, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at his home. He was born September 10, 1964, and lived his life with the kind of hard work, simple pleasures, and Southern spirit that made him one of a kind.

Gerald was 100% a true Southern man. He loved Southern rock and classic rock music, and there was no happier place for him to be than with his guitar in his hands. Music was more than something he enjoyed; it was a part of who he was. His favorite song, “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, seemed especially fitting for a man who appreciated the simple things in life and lived it in his own way. Gerald worked incredibly hard throughout his life and was not one to let much of anything keep him from doing what needed to be done. Even after going through radiation treatments for cancer, Gerald would often try to return to work and finish out the day at the furniture factory where he was employed. That determination and strong work ethic were simply part of who he was. And if there was one thing his family will always remember, and probably always crave, it was Gerald’s homemade potato salad. Everyone in Gerald's life, who tried it, said that it was some of the best around!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Aston Mallory, Sr. and Lavelle Mason Mallory, and two brothers, Johnny Herndon and Lynn Mallory.

Gerald is survived by his sister, Patsy Mattox Mallory; brothers, Jacob Mallory, Jr. (Venetia) and Mickey Payne (Earlie); his former wife, Linda Martin Mallory; children, Wesley Moss and Trip Hornbuckle; stepdaughter, Amber Whilhite; nephews, William Martin (Dawn) and Craig Martin (April); and a host of more nieces and nephews that he truly loved.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Kayla Timmons, Gerald’s great niece, for being such an instrumental and wonderful care giver when he got sick.
