Tupelo—Frances M. Burnham, age 85, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at her home. She was born September 1, 1937 in Lee County to Frank and Della Johnson Stanford. Frances worked for the Head Start Center as a member of the support staff. She was of the Baptist faith. Frances is remembered as a wonderful chef who loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved being outdoors, fishing and camping.
Frances leaves behind her husband of 51 ½ years , Jack H. Burnham; two sons, Donald Smith of Southaven and Howard Burnham (Sharon Wesley) of Red Bay, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Cindy Smith of Tupelo; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dewayne Smith; two brothers, Charles Stanford and Lawrence Stanford; and a sister, Lois Sanders.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Dr. Gerald Gann officiating. Burial will follow at Eggville Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Pegues, Tupelo.
