Faye Swan

Saltillo—Faye Swan, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was born in Marion County, Alabama on October 21, 1937, to James Heward and Stella Colburn Riggan. In 1965, she met and married the love of her life, James Grady Swan and they enjoyed 59 wonderful years together. Faye will be remembered by many students and teachers at Thomas Street Elementary School as one of their beloved cafeteria workers who served them each day with a smile. She also enjoyed crocheting projects and trips to the beach. Known as the “cool mom” among the friends of her daughter, she loved taking them to concerts and making fun memories. Faye loved her cat, Taz, who was her constant companion.

Faye leaves behind her husband, James Grady Swan of Saltillo; her son, Marlon Kirk Swan of Texas; daughter, Michele Lee Orr of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Brayden Nicholas Orr, Bobby Swan, and Alexis Jolly; brother, Ray Morton of West Virginia; nieces, Jennifer Sellers and Kim Holcomb; and nephews, Brent Swan and mark Riggan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne Morton and Alfred Riggan.
