Doyle Martin

Saltillo- Doyle Martin, a simple, honest, and hardworking man, gladly entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, May 16, 2025. There, he was reunited with the love of his life and his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Gail. Doyle was born on July 31, 1950, to Claudie and Willie Mae (Lamb) Martin. Bobbie and Doyle married while both were still teens, and they spent most of their lives around the Springhill area in Saltillo.

Doyle was a long-haul truck driver for 35 years, making many sacrifices to assure that the needs of his wife and children were always met. He enjoyed working with his hands, watching a good western, and spending all the time he could with his family, including his dog Lady and many cats. He was a believer in our savior, Jesus Christ, and longed for the days where the pain and sorrow of earthly life would be no more for he and his family.

Doyle leaves behind his sons, Lonnie Martin and Randy Martin (Faith) of Saltillo, and Jeffrey Martin (Sarah) of Fulton; daughter, Lacy Plaxico (Allan) of Mooreville; grandchildren, Cameron and Abby Martin, Draven Plaxico, and Silas and Jude Martin; Sister, Donnis Bishop, Godson, Michael Orsborn (Glenda) of Plantersville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three sisters, Dorothy, Joan, and Linda, and two Brothers, Paul and Fred.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, at Pegues, Saltillo.

Services honoring his life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2023, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues with Doyle’s children, Randy, Lacy, and Jeffrey, sharing fond remembrances of his life. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Orsborn, Cameron Martin, Draven Plaxico, Shane Hallmark, and Kevin Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Silas Martin, Jude Martin, and Michael “Jaybird” Dill.
