Dorothy “Dot” Cryder
Auburn Community- Dorothy Jean Cryder, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family following a brief illness. Born on December 30, 1946, to Lonnie Butler and Mable Allbritton, Dorothy lived a life defined by devotion, warmth, and unwavering love for those closest to her.
A lifelong member of the Auburn Community, Dorothy centered her world around her family. She was a proud and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in caring for her boys and watching her family grow through the generations. Known affectionately as “Meme” and “DotDot” by her grandchildren, she created a home filled with laughter, love, and treasured memories.
Before her retirement, Dorothy worked at J.J. Rogers for over 30 years, where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and the lasting friendships she built along the way.
Dorothy had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. She took pride in her yard, spending countless hours tending to her flowers and keeping her lawn just right. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade cakes and pies, especially during the holidays when she delighted in baking and crafting special Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren, gifts that will be cherished for years to come.
She also embraced life with a playful and spirited heart. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, fishing, shooting pool, and throwing darts, always bringing her signature enthusiasm and competitive spark. She made many friends along the way during these activities. She was such a treasured friend and mother to all. To those who knew her best, “Dot was the best,” a sentiment shared by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
A faithful member of Priceville Baptist Church, Dorothy’s life reflected her strong values and deep sense of community. Sundays were especially meaningful in her home, where family gathered for cookouts, shared meals, and evenings spent watching favorite television shows and football games together, traditions that became the heartbeat of her family life. She treasured her dog, Dinky, with her entire heart.
On September 10, 1965, Dorothy married the love of her life, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, commitment, and shared memories.
