Dorinda Leatherman

October 27, 1945 — May 11, 2023

Dorinda Leatherman

Tupelo- On May 11, 2023, Dorinda Leatherman, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away into the presence of her heavenly father at age 77.

Dorinda was born on October 27, 1945, in Findlay, Ohio. On September 10, 1966, she married David Leatherman. They dedicated their lives together creating a loving family that includes three children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to the sacrifices a loving mother makes to raise her children, Dorinda also had a passion for helping to preserve the lives of the unborn children. She volunteered many years and countless hours at Save-A-Life and Park Gate Pregnancy Clinic. Her dedication to the cause of preserving the precious lives of unborn children certainly helped save the lives of many people living in our community today. Dorinda was also active in her church community. She had a love for God and her Savior Jesus Christ and tried to shepherd others to a deeper relationship with the Lord by creating, leading, and participating in Bible study groups. She was a member of NorthStar Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Dorinda also was the author of a book written to help other people struggling to find peace recovering from a trauma she also experienced in her life.

Dorinda loved spending time reading, decorating her house (especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas), working in her flowerbeds, going out to eat, traveling, and spending time with her family. One of her greatest joys was any opportunity to sit around the table and play board or card games with family and friends. Although she treasured those times, make no mistake, she was still in it to win!
In addition to her tireless efforts in raising her children and volunteer work, she also helped support her family financially by working in many jobs, including office work in her husband’s financial planning business.

Dorinda was preceded in her death by her parents, Willis and Pauline King, and her sister Judy Howard.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Leatherman; her sisters, Gloria Wolfe and her husband Gene, and Kathy Miller and her husband Harlan; her children, Lisa Leatherman, Debbie Milne, and Bryan Leatherman and his wife Isabel; her grandchildren, Caitlin Milne, Morgan Neelly, Anna Parkin Estes, Melia Milne, Micah Milne, Clyde Neelly, Connor Neelly, Isabel Leatherman, and Olivia Leatherman; and great grandchildren, Zayla Parkin Estes, and Evelyn Neelly- all of whom will miss her and cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Terry Ledbetter officiating. A brief graveside service will follow at Saltillo Cemetery and is open to all family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Leatherman, Clyde Neelly, IV, Conner Neelly, Micah Milne, Josh Estes, Andrew Crater, and Mark Oss.
