DONNIE SMITH
BLUE SPRINGS – Donnie Farris Smith, age 68, passed away after an extended illness on June 10, 2025. He was born on December 25, 1956, to Don and Ada Smith.
A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Donnie served his country honorably as a Lance Corporal stationed in Okinawa. His service was cut short when he was medically discharged due to exposure to Agent Orange, which splashed into his eyes. Despite this challenge, Donnie lived with strength, courage, and a deep love for life.
He was a devoted member of Ellistown Baptist Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. Donnie was passionate about construction work and loved spending time outdoors. He had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting and drawing—always working with his hands and heart. But above all, he treasured time with his family.
Donnie was married to Lori Dianne Smith for 13 years, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep faith, and the care he showed to all those around him. His legacy is carried on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
Donnie is survived by his son, D.J. Smith (Gabrielle) of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Fiona, Noelle, and Nathan; mother, Ada Smith; and brother, Perry W. Smith (Sandy) of Mooreville.
Donnie is preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Deborah Turner and Pamsie Lollar.
A memorial service will be held at Springhill Presbyterian Church at a later date.
