Donna O'Callaghan

Tupelo – Donna Doss O’Callaghan, 92, passed peacefully from this life into glory Saturday, January 17, 2026, at The Green Houses Leeper House at Traceway Retirement Community.

Donna was born on October 6, 1933, in Wynne, Arkansas to Robert and Velma Doss. Growing up they lived in several towns throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Pueblo Mexico because of her father’s work before returning to Wynne.

She graduated from high school in Wynne in 1952. After graduation, she attended airline training school in Kansas City, Missouri. After completing her training, she went to work for Delta Airlines in Memphis, Tennessee as a ticket and reservation agent. There she met her future husband, Joe O’Callaghan, who also worked for Delta Airlines in Memphis.

She and Joe were married in Tupelo, Mississippi on May 15, 1955, at First Methodist Church and remained in Memphis until 1956 when they returned to Tupelo to live. They operated two restaurants, O’Callaghan’s Dairy Bar and O’Callaghan’s Drive Inn over a period of 8 years.

She took time off to raise her four children. Later she went to work for the Gizmo, Dixie Pools, Jody’s Flowers, and Reeds Bridal and Gift Shop. She retired from Reed’s in 2010 after fifteen years of devoted work.

She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she served in several positions including Bible School teacher. She was a Cub Scout den mother. She was a past president of Tupelo Junior Women’s Club and past president of Tupelo Ladies’ Golf Association at the Tupelo Country Club.

She enjoyed playing golf and swimming. She and Joe enjoyed traveling and having cookouts at their home for their children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed birthday trips with her daughters, Diana and Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Velma Doss; her sister, Bobbie Miller; and her beloved husband, Joe, who died January 12, 2014, after 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory, children, Diana O’Callaghan Mobley (Bill) of Oxford, MS, Mary O’Callaghan Anderson (Gerald) of Tupelo, MS, Bob O’Callaghan of Tupelo, MS and Joe O’Callaghan, Jr. (Cindy) of Saltillo, MS; grandchildren, Clinton Anderson (Heather) of Mooreville, MS, Elizabeth Anderson Lewis (Tyler) of Navarre, FL, Blake O’Callaghan (Danyell) of Pontotoc, MS, Emmie O’Callaghan Chavers of Pontotoc, MS, Hayden O’Callaghan of New Albany, MS, Caley O’Callaghan Speck (Tyler) of Saltillo, MS and Morgan O’Callaghan Magoun (Collin) of Madison, MS; great-grandchildren, Olivia Anderson, Mason Lewis, Paisley O’Callaghan, Addy O’Callaghan, Lexington O’Callaghan, Cayson Chavers, Jack Thomas Chavers, Ann Clark O’Callaghan, Silas Speck, Eden Speck, and Clara Collins Magoun.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Pegues, Tupelo.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Jay Stanley officiating. A private graveside service will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Clinton Anderson, Blake O’Callaghan, Hayden O’Callaghan, Tyler Lewis, Tyler Speck and Collin Magoun.

The family is grateful for all the caregivers who have lovingly taken care of our mother for the past three years since she lost her vision.
