Mooreville – David D Looney passed away at the age of 81 on Monday, April 13, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born to the late Ralph William Looney and Gladys Lucas Looney on April 10, 1945.

David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He was a man of honor and service, proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years. During his military career, he served in the Vietnam War and traveled extensively, helping to protect the freedoms we hold dear. He believed in God and Country.

In his free time, David enjoyed golfing, watching NCIS, and working in his shop and yard. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his jokes and playful pranks, always finding a way to bring a smile to those around him. Above all, he was a true family man and an example to all who knew him.

On April 12, 1969, David married the love of his life, Donetta Looney. Together, they shared 57 beautiful years of marriage, standing side by side through life’s joys and challenges, and making countless sacrifices in service to their country and family.

He is survived by his wife, Donetta Looney; daughter, Amber Garrison, and her husband, Chris; two grandsons, Christopher Blake Johnson, and Gavin D Garrison; two step-grandsons, Dylan Garrison, and Jasob Garrison (Tiffany); two great-grandchildren, Drake Allen Garrison, and Kinsley Garrison; two sisters-in-law, Jenetta Thoms, and Joetta Linville (BJ); and brother-in-law, Tim Childers (Sandy).

He was preceded in death by his parents.
