Danny Raper

The Evergreen Community- Danny Samuel Raper passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026, following an extended illness. He was born on December 24, 1949, in Lee County, Mississippi, to Samuel Jack Raper and Mildred Beatrice Dean Raper. Danny was known as a laid-back, dependable man whose steady presence and kind spirit touched the lives of many who knew him.

On February 29, 1980, he married, Brenda Kay Lee Raper, beginning a marriage built on devotion, friendship, and family. Brenda, their children, and grandchildren, were Danny’s world, he adored every member of his family and took great pride in being a family man. Danny was a graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Child Psychology. He dedicated his entire 46-year career to KI in Tupelo as an Industrial Engineer, where he was respected for his hard work, loyalty, and commitment.

Danny was a faithful and devoted member of Richmond Pentecostal Church. He deeply cherished attending church and had a great love for his church family. Throughout the years, he served his church in many ways, including faithfully holding the role of Secretary/Treasurer.

In his free time, he enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially golf, and was an avid Mississippi State fan. Above all, he loved his family deeply and treasured the time spent with them. Those who knew Danny will remember him as a wonderful person whose strength, kindness, and love for others left a lasting impression.

Danny is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Raper of the Evergreen Community; three children, Candi Raper of Mantachie, Danny Raper II of the Evergreen Community; and Jaxon Raper of the Evergreen Community; four grandchildren, Lydia Harlow, Hudson Harlow, Danny Raper III, and Greyson Raper; siblings, Ben Raper and his wife, Charlotte, of Plantersville, Buck Raper and his wife, Deborah, of Corinth, Harvey Raper and his wife, Martha, of the Evergreen Community; and Becky McAlister and her husband, John, of Verona; brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Elliott and his wife, Debbie, of Nettleton, Ken Lee and his wife, Sonja, of Nettleton, Tony Lee and his wife, Christie, of Tupelo, and Tammy Lee and her partner, Demus, of Okolona; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bro. Jack and Beatrice Raper; granddaughter, Hannah Beth Harlow; siblings, Joe Raper, Mildred Annie Raper, and Freddie Pierce; nephew, Brian Holder; parents-in-law, Byron and Mary Lee; and brother and sister-in-law, Darron Lee and Linda Lee.

Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Richmond Pentecostal Church.

Services honoring Danny’s life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Richmond Pentecostal Church with Rev. Ricky Pierce, Rev. John McAlister, and Rev. Ben Raper officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be James Patterson, Brian Dillard, Ben Raper, E. C. Pierce, Tim Barnett, and Bruce Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Fritz, Ricky Dill, Jerry Dillard, Paul Ruff, Tim Lee, Jerry Hall, Cloyce Fennell, Bobby Joe Tackett, Jonathan Mask, Jake Peters, and Sammy Raper.
