Clyde Edgar “Santa Claus” Teel
Booneville – Clyde Edgar “Santa Claus” Teel, 70, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his residence after a sudden illness. Clyde was born December 6, 1946, in South Chicago, Illinois to Betty Lou May Gorski. He worked at Pullman Standard in Chicago doing plumbing and maintenance on passenger railcars until his retirement. After retiring from Pullman Standard he began a career as a truck driver and resided in Booneville for the last ten and half years. He married Carol Ann Meintsma January 26, 1966 and together enjoyed 51 years of mariage. Clyde loved hunting and especially fishing in his boat on Lake Michigan. He belonged to and spent many hours at his hunting and fishing club in Illinois. He traveled extensively and loved riding his motorcycle. Due to his likeness to St. Nicholas, Clyde obtained the nickname “Santa Claus” and had been involved in numerous Christmas parades and functions throughout his life. Not having children of his own, he took particular delight sharing candy canes and small stuffed animals to children throughout the Christmas holidays. He also enjoyed his fellowship at “coffee club” at McDonalds in Booneville .
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Teel; one brother, David Gorski of Chicago, Illinois; one aunt, Betty May of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at a later date.
