Chris Phipps

Thomas Christopher “Chris” Phipps, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1954, to Jack S. Phipps, Sr. and Nancy Albritton Phipps.

Chris lived life with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for people. He enjoyed kayaking, backpacking, and traveling, and especially cherished the opportunity to explore Africa on safari. Whether he was on the water, on the trail, or discovering a new place, Chris embraced every experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Known for his outgoing and friendly nature, Chris truly never met a stranger. His warmth and genuine kindness made those around him feel welcome and valued. He spent many years serving the community at North Mississippi Medical Center, where his compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues.

Chris was a member of St. James Catholic Church. His faith, service, and generous spirit were guiding forces throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Donna “Leigh” Phipps; siblings, Jack S. Phipps, Jr. (Patty), Tim Phipps (Margaret), Larry Phipps (Teresa), Phyllis Jernigan (Bill), and Nanette Holland; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John S. Phipps; sister-in-law, Brenda Phipps; brother-in-law, Ralph “Duck” Holland; and nephews, Matthew Phipps, and Philip Phipps.

Private burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.
