Charles R. “Chuck” Turner
Tupelo - Charles R. “Chuck” Turner, 68, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born on November 30, 1957, in Hampton, Arkansas, to the late George A. Turner and Shirley A. Turner
Chuck graduated from Madisonsville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky. He worked in the circulation department at The Daily Journal for 30 years and was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. Chuck devoted his life to his faith, and the many people whose lives he touched through his kindness and generosity.
As a faithful member of Oak Ridge Christian Church since 1977, Chuck helped with the youth ministry. His Christian faith guided his life and was evident in the way he treated others. He was a quiet, kind, and intelligent man who genuinely cared for people, and was always willing to help whenever he could. Chuck loved to read, and treasured the friendships he shared with his church family.
Chuck is survived by two brothers, Thomas Turner (Glenda) of Madisonville, Kentucky, and Jeff Turner (Dedra) of Mabelvale, Arkansas; two sisters, Susan Stogsdill (Donivan) of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Kimberly Smith (Donnie) of Jersey, Arkansas; his nephews, Brandon Turner and Trevor Turner; his nieces, Lindsay Turner, Lauren Turner Boyd, Jessica Turner Jones, and Kailey Stogsdill; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, George Turner and mother Shirley Turner; stepmother, Margie Turner; brother, James “Buddy” Turner; grandmother, Charlene “Cookie” Miller; aunt, Martha “Poppy” Monoghan; and nephew, Zachary Turner.
A graveside service honoring his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20,2026, at the New Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Thom Perry officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the care of his arrangements.
