Charles Hankins

Charles Hankins passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the age of 93. He was born October 13, 1931 in Lee County to Elzie Hankins and Edna Phillips Hankins. In 1957 he married his soul mate Ruth Glenn Hankins and they treasured the 67 years spent together. During the Korean War, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His working career began as a young man at Blue Bell Manufacturing, retiring as plant manager. He later continued to work for Columbian Rope in purchasing and shipping. Charles was an avid fan of Ole Miss Sports and enjoyed golfing in his younger days.

He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Ruth Glenn Hankins; his son, Chuck Hankins and wife, Donna; and a very special niece and great-niece, Cindy and Leah Timmons, all of Saltillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Chris Hankins and Wilma White.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Pegues, Tupelo. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
