Carl Oglesby

Brewer Community—Carl Douglas Oglesby, age 78, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born May 2, 1945, in Webster County, he was the son of Carson and Grace Russell Oglesby. For 30 years Carl worked as a cable repairman for Bell South. An active member of Brewer Baptist Church, he enjoyed working with the men’s ministry and serving any way he could. Carl was a Master Gardener and also worked with the Lee County Extension Service.

Carl leaves behind his wife, Joyce Oglesby of Brewer; his children, Amanda Bailey (Wesley) of Millington, Tennessee and Chuck Oglesby of Memphis; two step-daughters, Anita Peach (Jimmy) of Saltillo and Jan Fairley of Tupelo; a sister, Joyce Carter of Pittsboro; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Oglesby, and a sister, Barbara Denton.

Visitation will be 12 until 2 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023 Pegues, Tupelo
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues. Burial will be in Edgeworth Cemetery in Winona.
