Tupelo - Burma Thompson "Mrs. Bea" Beasley, 88, died Friday, April 1, 2011, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after an extended illness. A Union County native and longtime resident of Tupelo, she was born August 8, 1922 to Joseph and Maudie Caldwell Thompson. She married Jim Beasley November 11, 1938. She owned and operated Burma's Beauty Shop for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crosstitching, flowers gardening, and loved her family and their special family gatherings. She had been a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church most of her life.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include Three daughters, Margaret Morton (Bill) of Snow Lake, Lynda Gannon of Tupelo, and Pamela Deason (Curtis) of Nettleton; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Langford of New Albany; and her caregivers, Tina Cantrell and Buddy McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Jim D. Beasley who died July 29, 1995; three brothers and six sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Morton, Patrick Fain, Philip Fain, Brent Gannon, Jim Richards, and Greg Joslin.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
