Obituary for Burless J. Oyler Tupelo - Burless J. Oyler, 66, of Tupelo passed away Sept. 11, 2011. He was born on Feb. 24, 1945 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Joe M. Oyler and the late Imogene Cornutt Oyler. He graduated from S. D. Lee High School in Columbus, Miss., and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1973. He volunteered for active duty service in the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War, and also served on active duty with the Naval Reserves during Desert Storm, stationed in Saudia Arabia. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves where he finally retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He retired in 2010 after 29 years with Renasant Bank where he had many, many friends. He is survived by his wife, Marilou Hunt Oyler; a son, Charlie Oyler and wife Dawnmarie of Cumming, Georgia; and a daughter, Jennifer Oyler Olson and husband Chris of Little Rock, Arkansas. The apple of his eye was his little grandson, Connor, also of Little Rock. He is also survived by his father, Joe; a sister, Janice Nichols (Randy) of Roswell, GA; a brother, Winfred Oyler (Teri) of Millport, Ala.; three nieces and a nephew; and a large extended family. Special thanks goes to the Oncology ward nursing staff at North Mississippi Medical Center and the loving nurses at Sanctuary Hospice House. A celebration of Burless life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 1328 CR 885, Tupelo. Miss. Family visitation will be at the church at 10:00 a.m. preceding the service.
