Betty Clayton

Tupelo- Betty Clayton, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026. She was born on December 9, 1937, to Cleburn Anderson Robison and Mattie Lou Johnson Robison.

Betty was a truly caring and kind-hearted lady who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys and especially loved spending time outdoors tending to her garden. She also enjoyed traveling and crocheting, hobbies that reflected both her curiosity and her creative spirit. Of all the roles she cherished, none meant more to her than being a nanny to her beloved grandchildren. Caring for them, sharing time together, and watching them grow brought her immense happiness and pride. Her family was the center of her world.

Her father, Cleburn Anderson Robison, passed away when Betty was just 15 months old. Her mother later remarried Charles Robison, who lovingly helped raise her and whom Betty always recognized as her father. Betty was married to Noah Gene Clayton, with whom she shared many years of life and memories. She was a faithful member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Betty will be remembered for her warmth, her gentle nature, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Reese, Phyllis Bailey (Frank), and Dewayne Clayton (Shonda); grandchildren, Brad Reese (Darci), Brian Reese (Kim), Justin Reese, Brittany Taylor (Ethan), Cory Bailey (Hannah), Danielle Thomas (Christian), and Preston Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elizabeth Stephens, Brenda Rakestraw, Martha Causey, and Kenneth Robison (Billie Jane).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Clayton; parents, Cleburn Robison and Charles and Mattie Robison; son, Noah Michael Clayton; and brothers, David Robison and Gerald Wayne Robison.
