Andy LaGrone

New Albany – Andy LaGrone, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025. He was born on December 16, 1956, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Andrew Pollard LaGrone Jr. and Wilma Irene Walker.

Andy was a vibrant soul with a heart full of joy and a personality that lit up every room. Known for his quick wit and love of making people laugh, Andy had a knack for delivering a perfectly timed joke or a playful comment that could lift anyone’s spirits. His sense of humor was as bold and memorable as he was.

His lifelong love of music and performance led Andy to be especially passionate about Elvis Presley. He dyed his hair jet black, adorned himself with flashy gold jewelry, and fully embraced “The King’s” iconic style. Singing, dancing, and striking a signature Elvis pose were some of his favorite pastimes — and nothing delighted him more than being called “Elvis.”

Andy also had an undeniable sweet tooth, with ice cream ranking high on his list of life’s pleasures. He appreciated the little things — a good laugh, a familiar song, a shared dessert — and he generously shared those joys with everyone around him.

He lived most of his life with mental illness, facing both bright and difficult days with resilience and spirit. In his later years, as his physical health declined, he remained surrounded by love and care. His devoted sister, who lovingly cared for him, was his constant source of pride — always introducing her with a smile: “This is my sister, she’s a pharmacist.” In past years, he was especially uplifted by regular visits from his brother-in-law, who brought him his beloved milkshakes.

Andy will be remembered for his unique charm, his love of laughter, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the smiles he inspired and the joy he spread so freely.

He is survived by his sister, Karen Coltharp and husband, Ed; niece, Erin Walker Belew and husband, Matthew; nephew, Alex Dillard and wife, Lilly; great-nieces, Abigail Dillard and Walker Claire Belew; and great-nephew, Colton Marshall Dillard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother Nannie Maude Ledbetter; and grandfather, Wesson Clovis Ledbetter.

A memorial service in honor of Andy will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Jefferson Street Chapel with Ed Coltharp speaking.
