Auburn Community—Allen J. Brock passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the Sanctuary Hospice House, just short of his 90th birthday. Allen, better known as J.R., was born in the Eggville Community on January 3, 1936, the son of James Allen Brock and Fleeta Jones Brock. As a young man, he worked at Dudie’s Diner and was often called upon to judge the contestants at the Dudie’s Burger Festival. He was later the owner of Brock’s Grocery in Auburn and also a paint mixer for Weathers Auto. He retired from the United States Post Office as a Rural Letter Carrier after many years of service.
J.R. was a man with deep devotion to his faith, serving Auburn Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. His genuine commitment to God and his Savior, Jesus Christ, was evidenced by his character and integrity.
On August 26, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Martha Stanford Brock, who stood beside him in good times and difficulties. They cherished every moment of the 65 years they spent together making their home a warm and inviting place.
A humble man of strength, J.R. enjoyed simple pastimes which included growing his tomatoes and cantaloupes which he gladly shared with family and friends. He was also an avid reader.
J.R. leaves behind his wife, Martha, of Auburn; two children, Christie Miller (Terry) and Connie Eaton (Tim) all of Auburn; grandchildren, Lindsay Hardy (Daniel) and Braxton Eaton; his sister, Laverne Sample of Eggville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lowell Brock and Charlie Brock.
Visitation will be 9:30 until 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Auburn Baptist Church.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Jim Yates officiating. Allen’s son-in-law, Terry, will deliver the eulogy.
Pallbearers will be Phil Bradley, Barry Bradley, Braxton Eaton, Daniel Hardy, Tim Brock, and Luke Lewis.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Auburn Baptist Church or Sanctuary Hospice House.
