Obituary for William Ballinger Shannon - William (Bill) Ballinger, 54, died Monday, November 14, 2011, in Greeneville, Tenn. A native of Ripley, Tenn., he was born March 16, 1957, to Charles Matthew Ballinger and Patsy Smith Ballinger West. A resident of Shannon, he had been a truck driver for 32 years. He enjoyed playing video games and fishing with his family. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Derek Jones officiating. A eulogy will be given by his wife Carla and children. Burial will be in Mantachie Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Carla Ballinger of Shannon; his first wife, Dorothy Carter of Corinth; his mother, Patsy West of Fulton; his father and mother-in-law, Delton and Donna Wilcox of ScottsHill, Tenn.; his children, Matt Ballinger of Shannon, Rebecca Ballinger (B.J.) of New Albany, Victoria Williams (Eddie) of Corinth, Charles Ballinger (Geneva) of Corinth, Justin Greenway (Autumn) of Jackson, Tenn., David Ballinger (Lindsey) of Corinth, Jeremy Johnson of Caruthersville, Mo., Nick Ballinger (Kayla) of Booneville, and Amy Allen of Shannon; his sisters, Judy Brownlee of Ripley, Tenn., Vicki Jones (Perry) of Mantachie, Delois Turner (David) of Mantachie, and Traci Ramirez (Octavio) of Fulton; his brothers, Troy West (Teana) of Fulton and Jimmy Ballinger of Ft. Payne, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Charles and Jean Ballinger. Pallbearers will be Matthew, Charles, David and Nicholas Ballinger, Dell Newcomb and Leonard Rodgers. Visitation will be 12:30 to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
