VIRGINIA RUTH McCARLEY
New Chapel Community - Virginia Ruth McCarley, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born January 29, 1936, to William and Anna Kate Dykes Wright. Virginia married Frank McCarley in May of 1954 in Nettleton. She worked in assembly for Aircap for over 30 years before her retirement. Virginia loved gardening and her flowers. She loved to fish and the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed shopping at yard sales on Saturdays and collecting porcelain dolls. Virginia was a member of New Chapel Methodist Church and enjoyed going on church trips until her health prevented her from attending.
Survivors include her children, Frankie Jean Oliver of Nettleton, Stephanie Ann Conwill (Johnny) of Shannon, Franklin "Bug" McCarley (Rebecca) of Shannon and William Tommy McCarley (Sonya) of Baldwyn; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Ann Neal and Wilma Jean McDaniel of Nettleton; brothers, Robert Wright (Sandy) and Lee Allen Wright (Angie) of Nettleton; sisters-in-law, Linda Bailey of Tupelo and Elouise Gruber (Clarence) of Florida and brother-in-law, Hershel Bennett of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Wanda Ruth Henderson; sisters, Patsy Waggoner and Gwenda Bennett; grandchildren, Melissa Davis and Wesley Shaun McLevain.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Rex Bullock and Rev. Bill Henderson officiating. Graveside services will follow in New Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marc Bailey, Tommy Long, Dee Sullivan, Austin Pannell, Devonta Rucker and Jesse Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
